Cory Aquino

The Filipinos will forever be grateful to former President Cory Aquino. Aquino has become the symbol of freedom and democracy and was considered as one of the greatest leaders the country has ever had. She has inspired millions of people across Asia for inspiring people power during the Marcos regime.

The late President Corazon Aquino is the icon of Philippine Democracy. Her leadership as the 11th president is admirable and has inspired millions of people. The Filipinos will forever be grateful for her bravery, which stirred the people to a peaceful EDSA Revolution in 1986.

Her achievements are undeniably revolutionary. She restored the voice of the Filipinos that was once shut down by the former government. She freed political prisoners, launched a peace process that eradicated communist and Muslim insurgencies, restored the democratic institutions through the enactment of a New Constitution, which established the country as a democratic and republican State.

In 1986, she became Time Magazine’s Woman of the Year and was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. She lived a humble and respected life after her presidency. Her death was mourned by millions of people all over the world.
